Dojo Introduction

Bujinkan Dojo

Welcome to the SHINOBU DOJO!  This orientation is designed for newcomers to gain a better understanding of the SHINOBU DOJO.  Our charter: We give thanks to God for giving us the ability to use our talents as martial artists and the opportunity to train together and learn from each other as we fellowship through the martial arts.

The SHINOBU DOJO is true Budo (Way of the Warrior).   We train in Butaijutsu (martial body skills).  Movement is relaxed and energy conserving, focusing on using the body as a whole.  Shinkengata (real-fight style) is the driving force behind the technique and is always stressed during training.  "Martial" is only half of what we refer to each other as.   We are also "artists."  As an art student, one must find self-satisfaction through the appreciation of what is learned and created.  The individual captures the feeling, just as if one was to walk into a museum and view a painting.   We must never forget that the true feeling and purpose of Budo is spiritual development.

As stated earlier, the SHINOBU DOJO trains in Butaijutsu.  If someone was to ask, "What type of martial art do you study?" members of the SHINOBU DOJO reply with "I study Butaijutsu."  SHINOBU DOJO members continuously train in these three areas of martial arts: stand-up fighting skills, weapons skills, and ground-fighting skills.
